Aroview: Compelling yarn made of an early non-horror Stephen King short story about an innocent prison inmate who spends two decades behind bars.
Despite being strong on sentiment, and a resolution that perhaps overshoots the mark, there is plenty here to be admired and discovered, and it has since endured as an audience favourite.

5 stars (Exceptional) Heralded as one of those films that should have won an award at the Oscars, but for some reason was overlooked, the Shawshank Redemption is a great story of an innocent man in prison, and also portrays the horrors of the system. ~Tom H
4 stars (Very Good) Story of an innocent middle-class banker given life for murdering his wife, who befriends a fellow inmate and embarks on a truly remarkable escape. Emotional tale of injustice, but nicely depicts the life-long friendship of the two main characters. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) Pretty good but overly sentimental and predictable. ~dr.strangelove
4 stars (Very Good) It is powerful and emotional, but when I look back at it, I can't really remember why. ~Wizzums
3 stars (Good Enough) Loses a lot of its early impact by being too long. Those who are on the side of law and order are more interesting than the inmates. ~Tubbs
