Aroview: Hyper-violent 'Mexploitation' actioner from director Robert Rodriguez that fleshes out his popular mock-trailer from he and Tarantino's "Grindhouse" double-bill to a full length feature.
Like the director's PLANET TERROR, this pays homage to fleapit B-movie mayhem, this time with bad-ass Danny Trejo as an ex-Federale who launches a righteous rampage of revenge against his corrupt former boss and other bordertown rednecks. Michelle Rodriguez and Jessica Alba check in as the pistol-packing Latino babes. This comically macho bloodbath is at times as sloppy as the movies it lifts from (especially in the unruly final reel), but if taken on its own low-brow terms it's an enjoyably juvenile experience.

3 stars (Good Enough) While not quite as epic as I'd hoped, this does have moments of B-movie greatness. I just wish there had been more. In my opinion, Planet Terror had more of that OTT B-grade flavour. ~Tom H
3 stars (Good Enough) This movie is saved by the contemporary news of America's horror-relationship with the border. Machete is an epic bogeyman. Michelle Rodriguez might be the most underrated actress working today. And I'm always here for Rober Rodriguez. ~Pop&Coffee
2 stars (Good Try) Plenty of blood and guts and other stuff. Probably best viewed as a comedy. ~BabyJane
