Australia 2011, 101 minutes
Dir. Julia Leigh
Genres: Drama / Sex
Feat. Emily Browning, Rachael Blake, Ewen Leslie
“A unique story, untellable in any other medium, that resists both easy dismissal and glib praise, sinking into the mind with the ungraspable, all-pervading power of a dream.”~James Rocchi, The Playlist
Aroview: Award-winning Australian author Julia Leigh makes her directorial debut with this unsettling erotic fairy tale of a young university student who is drawn into working at an exclusive brothel where services are offered to high paying clients while the 'hostess' is asleep.
Effectively provocative and artfully decadent in the Peter Greenaway mould, the dubious premise is treated with deliberate austerity, though some of the stilted dialogue is perhaps not so deliberate, and further distances the viewer from ultimate gratification.

3 stars (Good Enough) Julia Leigh should be commended for making this film. At times unsettling, but beautifully shot. There is sense of coldness and distance maintained between the viewer (voyeur?) and subject. Could well have been handled clumsily in less deft hands. ~trauma_hound412
3 stars (Good Enough) Well done to Emily Browning for undertaking a risky and vulnerable role. She succeeds in delivering with aplomb as does Rachael Blake as the classy pimp. ~Tubbs
