“Funny, suspenseful and freighted with fright bombs, this could easily be the most energising fun you’ve ever had at a New Zealand movie.”~New Zealand International Film Festival
Aroview: A home detainee is forced to move back into her old family house where she grapples with her neurotic mother and supernatural disturbances.
A confidently directed and cleverly constructed Kiwi horror-comedy, packed with far more wit and surprise than allcomers of late in this genre, its trump card being a sensational central performance from Morgana O'Reilly, who gleefully carries off her stroppy character with deadpan delivery and sex appeal.

5 stars (Exceptional) One of the funniest movies i’ve seen in a long time. Very kiwi, very witty, and spooky at times. Housebound is definitely one of the must see movies of the year. ~Anon
5 stars (Exceptional) "Kiwi horror-comedy" is its own genre now. All the expected elements are there. ~Truant
2 stars (Good Try) Although it does well to breathe a bit of life into this tired genre it is a shade too long and loses some of its effectiveness after a good beginning. The performances of Morgana O'Reilly and Rima Te Wiata are the highlight. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) A good time, will have kiwis saying "oh I have that!" over pretty much every prop in the film. I'd personally say it's more thriller-comedy? Strong performances by the leads. ~Anon
