Pure Formality, A
Aroview: A chilling interrogation of an elusive murder suspect transpires under weather most foul. Roman Polanski and Gerard Depardieu face-off brilliantly in a film that wraps character study, gripping suspense, and surrealism into a package of virtuoso style. The director of CINEMA PARADISO proves equally adept in an entirely different genre.

4 stars (Very Good) A deranged man is picked up running through the woods during a violent stormy night & taken to police where he claims to be a famous writer. He, and the interrogating inspector, face off over what becomes a gripping murder mystery. Completely riveting. ~GenXGirl
4 stars (Very Good) A terrific thriller. Polanski is brilliant as an interrogator; Depardieu equally brilliant as the "victim". Recommended ~Sandy
