Aroview: The horror genre gets a long overdue (if tongue-in-cheek) revamp but you needn't be an aficionado to experience the thrill of this movie-as-ghost-train-ride.
Dir. Wes Craven knows his stuff and finally lands a script that has the smarts to be effective as both post-modern pastiche and scary fright flick. Neve Campbell leads the nubile teen cast.

4 stars (Very Good) Wes Craven was the perfect man for this job: a horror master in his own right, bringing horror to a whole new generation of audiences in a uniquely funny and enjoyable way. ~Tom H
5 stars (Exceptional) Excellently enjoyable horror movie that manages to be both scary and subtly hilarious, while also boasting a solid whodunnit aspect. ~dr.strangelove
5 stars (Exceptional) Scream takes every horror cliche, makes fun of it and makes them fantastic! It has a brilliant cast and a climax that will not be long forgotten along with all the thrills and chills and laughs that you could want in a horror movie. ~Anon
4 stars (Very Good) Simultaneously a sincere (and scary) slasher-thriller and a clever (funny) send-up of the same. If the balance wobbles toward the end it's still thoroughly entertaining, ranking with Pulp Fiction as a key film of the '90s "self-aware" pop cinema. ~fairbrother
2 stars (Good Try) There is no suspense - the title gives away what is likely to happen but with the exception of the noisy musical score it is okay as light entertainment. ~Tubbs
5 stars (Exceptional) classic ~Wyatt Earp
