Cross of Iron
Aroview: A doomed German platoon facing annihilation at Russian hands find their instinct for personal glory greater than their instinct for survival. Technically glorious war film for which you'll need a strong stomach.

4 stars (Very Good) One of the best war films. Disjointed but brilliant. Some of the best ensemble acting you will ever see. Not for the kids. Saving Private Ryan seems facile by comparison. Good to see it re-released on disc. ~Anon
4 stars (Very Good) Great film - brutally realistic and also enthralling. One of the best war films I've seen. ~Warbuff
2 stars (Good Try) What is not dated is the anti-war message. The wardrobe and the mud looked authentic and except for the compulsory slow-motion action shots, the battle scenes had an authentic feel about them. The casting should have been German, however.rn ~Tubbs
