Aroview: The big league writer/directing debut of ex-pat Wellingtonian and former London adman Niccol, is a highly intriguing thriller about the scary implications of a society governed by genetic engineering. This rarely chartered cinematic territory is further outfitted in sleek retro-futuristic production design and the exemplary contours of Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman.

2 stars (Good Try) It has a very good sci-fi premise and the set designs are very good but the pace of the screenplay was stodgy and a real turn off. ~Tubbs
2 stars (Good Try) Standard Hollywood 'our-human-spirit-won't-ever-be-tamed' schtick in sci-fi garb. ~Shorty
