La Maman Et La Putain (the Mother and the Whore)
Aroview: At just over three and a half hours, this domestic chamber drama - probably the last great film of the French New Wave - is not for the light hearted, but those with an appetite for close character interaction filmed in big chunks of real time will find this a rich dish indeed - both the story of a dense, flawed menage-a-trois, and a meditation on the lost hopes of the French left wing after May 1968.
