Beach, The
Aroview: Tapping the moods of young travellers of today and their restless wanderlust, this adaptation of Alex Garland's Gen-X novel is both well-starred and thematically true to its 'backpacker' ethos. Finding a haven from global anxieties in a secret, beachside paradise in South-East Asia, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tilda Swinton and co ultimately can't escape the cliche of 'man-is-his-own-worst-enemy'. Still, it's a consummately crafted vacation from the makers of TRAINSPOTTING.
