Mansfield Park
Aroview: Refashions one of Jane Austen's quirkier novels by drawing on the 19th century writer's own journals and letters, with the dir. of WHEN NIGHT IS FALLING pursuing her 20th century political agenda in the genteel country setting. Performances from Frances O'Connor, Embeth Davidtz, Alessandro Nivola and Harold Pinter are all up to standard. Ambitious though not for all tastes.

3 stars (Good Enough) As expected the set designs, wardrobe and performances are spot on. The screenplay adaptation is interesting and has a real crack at the British involvement in the slave trade - well done for that. ~Tubbs
4 stars (Very Good) An adaptation with bite. ~Shorty
