Aroview: A laidback yet buoyant slice-of-ordinary-life set on the low-rent side of Marseille, where two wounded fortysomethings strike up a hesitant relationship that is encouraged into something deeper by her convivial neighbours. Heralding the importance of emotional richness over material wealth, it echoes a socialist romanticism that was key to the work of the great French author, Marcel Pagnol. The film is similarly a humble triumph.
4 stars (Very Good) What a joy! A subtle & funny plunge into believable working-class lives instead of yet another exploration of the indiscreet charms of the bourgeoisie. Extremely likeable.~Sandy
