Merci Pour Le Chocolat
Aroview: Slyly subversive psychodrama, with Isabelle Huppert excelling as the owner of a Swiss chocolate-business, who also happens to be a family-minded, well-meaning maniac. Wed to a famous pianist (Jacques Dutronc), their slightly complicated marriage involving various step-children, sets the stage for numerous psychological micro-struggles and bedtime cups of doctored hot chocolate. Dir. Chabrol’s 53rd film is one of his best.
