Aroview: In the classic whodunnit mould, this whimsical French "thriller" starts with a man’s dead body in a snowbound Alpine manse in the 1950s, and eight female suspects to find the truth out for themselves.

Graced with an excellent lineup – Catherine Deneuve, Isabelle Huppert and Emmanuelle Beart among them – the blueprint of Agatha Christie is readily apparent beneath the French stylings and wit, though this is played mostly for fun, with touches of farce, camp humour and a half dozen musical numbers!

5 stars (Exceptional) If you see one French, musical murder mystery, this has to be it. Deranged yet delectable, this is a feast for the eyes - throw in Deneuve, Huppert, Beart and more and you've got a classic. ~The Myrka
