Open Hearts
Aroview: A touch edgier than recent 'Dogme 95' melodramas, this explores the consequences of a car accident on the previously steady lives of those involved.
A man is left paralyzed after being run down; his fiance then finds romantic solace in the arms of the husband of the careless driver! Switching priorities in its storyline halfway through to focus on the husband's family, this also bends the 'rules' of the Dogme genre somewhat with various visual 'effects'. Although ultimately as bleak as FESTEN et al, some refreshing humour provides ample distinction.

4 stars (Very Good) ~Regando
5 stars (Exceptional) Powerful, well-paced, brilliantly acted. A triumph of hand-held camerawork in the Dogme style, which is explained in the interesting extras. Dogme puts a lot of pressure on the actors, all of whom carry it with great skill & conviction. ~Sandy
