Aroview: A must for rock fans of all ages, this hilarious, tongue-in-cheek tribute to rock music is charged by the head-banging enthusiasm of Jack Black, who relishes his role as a rock band reject who poses as a substitute school teacher. Promptly throwing out the curriculum, he instead rallies the entire class around a left-field bid to compete in “Battle of the Bands”.
A thorough deconstruction of rock music appreciation and creation, it’s consistently ‘feel-good’ (in the great, rock ‘n’ roll sense of the term) and surely infectious enough to convert those not plugged in to the likes of AC/DC. Writer Mike White (TV’s Freaks and Geeks) and director Linklater (Dazed and Confused) – we salute you!

4 stars (Very Good) An unemployed wannabe rock-star and slacker fakes it at being a substitute teacher and gives the class an education in rock music they'll never forget. An original and very humerous tribute to the history of rock music. ~GenXGirl
2 stars (Good Try) It succeeds in having genuine sentiment where many have failed, but is cliche ridden and Jack Black is at his worst. ~dr.strangelove
3 stars (Good Enough) This movie was better than i thought it would be but, it was kind of werid in a cool way. It was '0kay' but Jack black was'nt as funny as he is. ~Clauds
3 stars (Good Enough) Well done for producing an enjoyable film out of routine and overused material. ~Tubbs
3 stars (Good Enough) For some reason I find it very hard to like Jack Black and his awkward overacting, but despite this, the film is enjoyable enough and has a certain 'Jack Black' rock n roll feel. ~Tom H
