Aroview: A lavish post-CROUCHING TIGER epic derived from a Chinese folktale about an Imperial assassin who is sent forth to the Gobi desert to eliminate a mutinous warrior, in return for passage back to his native Japan.
Filmed in the monumental deserts of western China, this never skimps on grandeur, but does deliver a fairly predictable story of stone-faced heros, tested loyalties and supernatural artifacts. Bears the welcome influence of Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa.
