Aroview: A worthy homage to Bergman's WILD STRAWBERRIES, with McKellen here playing a retired professor, whose journey back to his roots in Canada stirs up a cloud of regrets, guilts and the lingering spectres of his old family.

A free-flowing structure of past, present and imagination is handled with ample restraint, while the lead character's poignant situation is sincerely portrayed, the glorious landscapes of British Columbia distracting from the occasional contrivance.
