La Bamba (1987): The soundtrack is not too bad plus there is the casting of Elizabeth Pena to bolster the acting ranks.; DVD $24.95 | Blu-Ray $29.95
Proof (2005): What an intense bunch of characters.
Thief of Bagdad (1924): A relaxing and dreamy viewing experience. The set designs and the early special effects can only be admired.
Night Train to Lisbon (2013): Couldn't always follow the complex screenplay but there is Jeremy Irons to admire (once again) and a pretty good supporting cast.
Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015): It is pretty decent for a sequel.
Producers, The (2005): Not quite up there with the original but it is not far away. A great mix of satire and music.
Jean Grémillon: During the Occupation (Remorques, Lumière d'été, Le Ciel Est à Vous) (1941-1944): One of the wetter screenplays and that doesn't just apply to the romantic segments; A romance but a well written one; I thought the screenplay had some loose ends but for a film made in wartime 1944, you can't expect perfection.
Merci Pour Le Chocolat (Nightcap) (2001): Not a particularly strong screenplay.
Promise, The (Wu ji) (2005): The visuals and the reasonable running time make it worth a look.
Austenland (2013): You got the feeling that it was unsure what its boundaries were, and how much it could get away with. The cast enjoyed making it and for the most part, it should succeed with its audience.
