Violent Saturday (1955)
One of the bank robbers arrives in town on foot after walking from the bus – a good touch. It has an old fashioned stick up and also and old fashioned shoot out to finish off.
Maggie's Plan (2015)
The casting is fine and the performances are fine and everything is fine except it didn't appeal.
Lego Movie, The (2014)
I'm not a Lego person so the characters didn't mean a great deal to me but some of the other animation such as the street scenes were impressive.
She's Out of My League (2010)
Has a hint of comedy at times but this kind of thing has been done so many times already.
Face (1997)
It starts off well and with a cast of Carlyle, Winstone and Davis it should be a winner but it loses impetus through flash back shots and a romantic subplot. Could have done with more of the great Peter Vaughan but he only has a small part.
About Elly (2009)
Not a "typical" Iranian offering in my book – it looks to have been made with a mainstream audience in mind – there are too many photogenic characters for my liking. It has an okay screenplay but it is one which lacks a bite.
Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)
Top Gun (1986)
Although Cruise is in it – it is a man's picture even though there is a compulsory romantic unnecessary subplot as a fill in between the excellent flying sequences.
Cafe Society (2016)
Allen churns out another talkie (Eisenberg is well cast) but the period's set designs and wardrobe are well done.
Puss in Boots (2011)
The animation is terrific and so are the characters. A really enjoyable story line with some dance numbers thrown in.
