Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004)
Although there is a different plot to the original both depend on the same characters so there is a "sameness" that is hanging around the neck of this sequel – it is watchable but Renee's character does mumble unfortunately.
Hello, My Name is Doris (2015)
I'm not a Sally Field fan but she does extremely well with this and makes a not so strong screenplay watchable.
Postman Always Rings Twice (1946)
It was interesting that Lana was dressed in white for most of this black and white drama – she shone and performed well also. A good screenplay with Hume Cronyn the standout as a weasel lawyer.
Huntsman, The: Winter's War (2016)
If you haven't seen many violent fantasy films then this should appeal with this strong female cast and good special effects – however if you have then its business as usual.
Eddie the Eagle (2016)
Entertaining and hard to dislike – the ski jumping scenes are well done. The adaptable Tim McInnery portrays the British upper class twits very well.
East of Eden (1955)
The set designs are commendable but the screenplay is ruined by Dean – who can't act and is embarrassing. Raymond Massey is as solid as ever though as is Burl Ives who pops up now and again.
Slipstream (Slipstream Dream) (2007)
I found this more watchable when I stopped trying to follow the plot – if nothing else at least John Turturro enjoyed himself.
Time of the Gypsies (1990)
The first half is strongest but at all times it is never boring nor predictable. The off beat comedic moments are gems. I don't know how truly it represents gypsy life from the period but hopefully the typical male was not as mercenary as these characters
Anger Management (2003)
Sandler is not too bad in this plus there is a very talented support/cameo cast in Tomei, Turturro, Stanton etc. The plot idea is fine but it doesn't last out the running time.
Lisa and the Devil (1972)
It's not that good but it has a certain appeal through its corny acting and its general look.
