TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) (2007)
I'm not a particular fan of this form of animation.
Frankenweenie (2012)
In beautiful black and white. The character designs are excellent and Sparky the dog might just be my favourite animated character. Not a bad screenplay to boot.
Fourth Kind, The (2009)
It goes all out in the screaming department – but not too bad considering its sub–genre.
Couples Retreat (2009)
Initial scenes weren't too bad – but half way in comes the grubbiness and worse of all not very original grubbiness. Childish.
Brubaker (1980)
Sincere but loses impact because of its length. Supporting cast has some experienced regulars which helps – Matt Clark,Murray Hamilton and Emmet Walsh. Excellent incidental blues soundtrack.
Quarantine (2008)
Cobra (1986)
Stallone has done worse – looks like he's going through his vanity period in this one – the matchstick in the corner of the mouth helps (as long as its removed for the bedroom scene).
Banksy Does New York (2014)
Most of us have already seen docs. on beautiful graffiti art and many docs. showing the champagne sipping twits in art galleries but this documentary did highlight how much of New York is run down.
Synecdoche, New York (2008)
Very uneven throughout. Except when Hoffman mumbled (voice posturing), the first half wasn't too bad, but I lost interest in the story about half way – round about the time Hoffman went bonkers. Great female cast.
Hunchback of Notre Dame, The (1996)
An effective way to tell the story – the animation is simply styled and easy on the eye but the songs aren't its strongest element.
