Raintree County (1957)
The best scenes involve an excellent support cast – Nigel Patrick,Lee Marvin et al. The romantic scenes just drag and make the story telling far too long.
Dead and Breakfast (2004)
Much better than most in the zombie sub–genre because of a comedy touch that sometimes works.
Planet 51 (2009)
From a Spanish CGI studio – it works well as a social commentary, comedy and animation.
Al Qaeda (2005)
Eleven years on and there is very little dating of the material and certainly no reduction to the threat.
End of Days (1999)
Every time Arnie talked it slowed the story down – however the film should have been tighter so that the impact of the better bits weren't lost.
Mirage (1965)
A convoluted plot, which if it isn't totally successful, at least should hold most viewers' attention. An interesting support cast (Kennedy for eg.) adds value and the film lifts a notch when Walter Matthau is on set.
Over the Hill Band, The (Meisjes) (2009)
Familiar and predictable & it gets a bit sentimental as expected.
101 Dalmatians (1996)
Worth watching for the supporting cast of Hugh Laurie and Joan Plowright. Commendable work by the animal trainers.
Hypnotist, The (2012)
There is snow and ice outside and also inside in the relationship between the hypnotist and his wife (Lena Olin). Its not cheery viewing nor is the screenplay which I also found a bit slow and unconvincing at times.
Notebook, The (2004)
There is some lovely photography but that is not enough to maintain one's interest for two hours.
