Cotton Club, The (1984)
Frustrating – some wonderful dancing orchestrated by Gregory Hines is often cut short and used as padding so Gere and Cage who are dressed as peacocks can strut around. Bob Hoskins & Fred Gwynne do well as do the prop and set designers.
Antonio Gaudi (1984)
His work is more interesting than most architects whose work has been filmed. This is part of the Criterion collection and the extra features provide his life story whilst the film concentrates on his work.
Woman in Gold (2015)
Helen lumbered by an accent does her best but her character is just not challenging nor the story that interesting.
Quiet Ones, The (2014)
Showed glimpses of originality and breaking the mould.
Danny Collins (2015)
More than useful cast, including the brilliant Christopher Plummer in support, but I couldn't really empathise with the lead character.
Siege (2012)
Except for some unnecessary slow motion camera work the battle scenes are well done and in the main suspenseful. The story telling in the main doesn't get too over dramatic. The documentary "Siege – The Real Story" should also be seen.
Ravenous (1998)
Strange even for a horror film but courageous as well. The material is fresh as well as the meat.
Sorry, Wrong Number (1948)
A good well written story that keeps the tension by not being too long. Well casted.
Drillbit Taylor (2008)
Another teen film involving bullying and another one treating it as a comedy.
Adventures of Pinocchio, The (1996)
Good production values of this timeless story.
