Assault On Precinct 13 (1976)
Can be forgiven the high body count as it somehow seems to add to the entertainment. The film has some nice comedic touches amongst the suspense. Soundtrack is only used periodically but appropriately.
Jungle Book (1942)
Timeless fantasy tale which includes an anti blood sports message.
Romeo Must Die (2000)
Doesn't really break the mould but what it does do will please the fans of this genre.
Clash of the Titans (2010)
Very noisy but the effects are worth a watch – its all be done before though.
17 Again (2009)
Very light comedy – a hint of desperation is in the plot idea.
Taking Of Pelham 123, The (2009)
Travolta's hysterical performance gets tiresome. If you have watched the original you should appreciate that version all the more.
Ruby Sparks (2012)
Is a good short story but hasn't enough in it to last over an hour and a half. Frustratingly brief roles for Bening, Banderas and Gould.
Judge Dredd (1995)
I think Sylvester is attempting to act in this one (watch the eyes) which adds to the entertainment. Step aside thespians Sylvester has arrived.
Never Cry Wolf (1983)
Uneven – the good bits (particularly the animal performances) are very good but some of the other segments are mundane. The location is a winner.
Freebie and the Bean (1974)
A lot of yelling and shouting is used, maybe to lift the action, but gets annoying after a while which is a pity as the casting is useful. The story doesn't quite work but at least they tried to be different.
