Twitch of the Death Nerve (Bay of Blood) (1971)
aka "Blood Bath", "Carnage". Classy horror – it is also suspenseful which is something most horror directors find difficult to achieve. Some of the killings have a touch of the absurd and none are boring.
Absolute Power (1996)
There's acting talent to burn but the story doesn't take off.
Spectacular Now, The (2013)
Didn't think much of the young male lead or his character – the spunky Jennifer Jason Leigh totally wasted.
Boys Are Back, The (2009)
The story borders on the routine but the location shooting makes it watchable.
Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014)
We didn't really need another one of these.
Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (2014)
More from this annoying hand held camera series.
Death at a Funeral (2007)
Has stood up very well to a second viewing. Its tight and there are no blank moments. Excellent script with a cast that work well together. The screen time and laughs are pretty well shared.
Journey to the Centre of the Earth (2008)
Entertaining – good effects and it doesn't go too long.
Fantail (2013)
A credit to the industry and worthy of exporting. An embarrassment to our big budget productions.
Giselle (2013)
Its good that these kind of performances are captured on film. The ballet looked okay, but I'd be more interested in the behind the scenes cock ups that would go with any production.
