It could have utilised the concept of hearing each other's thoughts a bit better than it did – although translating the concept to film doesn't necessarily make for an easy viewing experience.
Musically it is not very strong but the artwork and the period's set designs more than compensate. The casting of Depp, Carter, Rickman, and Spall is hard to resist.
The screenplay doesn't quite last the distance but it is very good for the most part. The Sussex locations are a shoe in as is the casting of Gemma and Tom Courtenay.
