Ottolenghi and the Cakes of Versailles (2019)
I couldn't relate to these people – do they live on the same planet? Hope they get jelly up their nose.
Eureka (1981)
The screenplay falls away post Hackman but up till then it is Nicolas Roeg and Gene Hackman in good form (what more is there to say but Eureka!).
Fanny Lye Deliver'd (The Delivered) (2019)
The story doesn't really go anywhere but the time and place are portrayed very strongly. You are in rural 17th century Shropshire. The misty photography is beautiful and the score spot on.
Casper (1995)
A spot–on cast for this kind of thing whilst the computer generated special effects do the job.
Salvation, The (2014)
The violence was for violence's sake and by its excess, it lost any meaning.
Despicable Me 2 (2013)
The Minions do it again.
Legend of Sarila, The (2013)
The production values don't rate highly compared with other animations but it does tell the story adequately.
Klondike Annie (1936)
Mae is in a strong partnership with the excellent character actor Victor McLaglen in this entertaining caper.
I'm No Angel (1933)
Not her best but the inimitable Mae is never boring with the court scene the highlight in this one.
Hunter, The (2011)
The screenplay flattered to deceive – it threatened to produce something special but didn't and with Willem Dafoe and Frances O'Connor in the cast, it was all the more surprising things turned out flat.
