It is refreshing to see a drama where the female characters hold sway. Having said that it was interesting how little Bill Nighy had to do but you could not ignore his presence. An entertaining version with the wardrobe & hair departments well employed.
The dramatisation was presented in such a flashy way that it could only pass as entertainment rather than educational. It is a pity because Tesla was a genius and Westinghouse and Edison both made important contributions to technology.
By presenting the drama in episodes the filmmaker had more flexibility and was able to use a wide range of emotions ranging from comical to distasteful.
A screenplay that will be remembered for its excellent casting and the performance of Jim Broadbent (yet again). A special mention though for Juliet Stevenson – she was the right choice to play the overshadowed wife and in this, she was spot on.
