New Tricks (TV Series) (2003)
- Great series, excellent characters, interesting stories, superb British television
Unbearable Lightness of Being, The (1988)
This is one of my all time favourite films. An excellent story, sad, fun, quirky, historical, sexy, well acted – what more could you want?
Cinema Paradiso (1990)
Such a gentle, innocent and full film. A delight to watch.
Sea Inside, The (Mar Adentro) (2004)
An amazing story, moving, sad, but also inspirational. Well told.
Few Days in September, A (Quelques jours en septembre) (2006)
- Clever but too slow. Seems a waste of an actress like Juliette Binoche ... or maybe she was just playing out of type.
Conversations with My Gardener (Dialogue avec mon jardinier) (2006)
- Slow but enjoyable. A pleasure to watch – as long as you didn\'t mistake it for an action movie.
Babette's Feast (1987)
You wonder where it is all going .... and there is a moving twist at the end. Basted slowly, but worth the wait.- DVD
$20 $15
Piano, The (1993)
Wonderful movie, great acting, superb location, realistic, great story, fine (though repetitious) music .... all terrific .... but too long.
Romance (1999)
Good grief. Give me a break. Sure she is pretty, but that is about all there is.
Hotel Rwanda (2004)
What a powerful film. What a story to tell. How sad that it is based on a true story and that there are so many other stories like it. It should be included in the eduction of our young people. Well done.
Adam's Apples (2005)
This is a rare film indeed. It has charm, humour, wit, justice, and a story that is made to tell. I really liked it, and found both the characters and the story all good fun.
Flyboys (2006)
Maybe a bit hammy and over–Americanised but the action, characters, and story were all good. Even though it was a little plastic in places it is still a film I recommend to my friends,
Last Ride (2009)
Didn't do it for me. It felt flat and inevitable. Probably good acting, but it was lost in the inadequate story.- DVD $34.95
Visitor, The (2007)
I really liked this film. What a wonderful set of inter–relationships and how inspiring to see a 'real person' emerge from his practised appropriateness. Great story, well played.
Italian Job, The (1968)
Perhaps a little dated with OTT British stereotypes but was loved in its day and deserves the following it still has. Certainly better than the American copy ... though more primative & less glamourous of course.- DVD
$20 $15
Malcolm (1986)
This is a classic movie for all ages. Really well played by Colin Friels.
River Runs Through It, A (1992)
Quite a moving film, with beautiful camera work, and realistic stories. Great sound–track too. Didn't need the underground violence
Saving Grace (2000)
Good fun. Plenty of laughs. Characters that fit.
Life as a House (2002)
I liked it. Good characters, odd–ball story. Sensible and moving ending.
Italian Job, The (2003)
Entertaining but nowhere near as good as the original.
Snow Cake (2006)
Excellent movie. Unusual story, well acted, quite moving.
