Rumour Has It...
Aroview: An intriguing meta-Hollywood 'sequel' to THE GRADUATE (1967), in which Aniston plays an unlucky-in-love New Yorker who learns that her grandmother (MacLaine) was the original "Mrs Robinson" in a family scandal which inspired the famous film starring Dustin Hoffman.
Soon she tracks down the original "Benjamin Braddock" (Costner), who is now a software billionaire, who upon meeting Aniston falls for her in a quasi-incestuous quadrangle of intergenerational seduction. Although popping with plenty of ideas, dir. Reiner can't quite pull off the absurdist tone of romance and take the clever filmic in-joke to the next level. Even so, this is humourous enough and has a certain conceptual originality.
