In 12 hour-long episodes, this deals succinctly with the technical, organisational and personal dramas of NASA scientists and astronauts, while not shying from the sometimes fatal disasters which beset the programme, or the Cold War subtext of the 'Space Race'. If the episodes sometimes run none-too-smoothly into the next, the overall production is impressively visualised, with excellent special f/x and performances.

3 stars (Good Enough) After having my usual moan about why dramatise when there are documentaries available - the series is watchable even though the subject has been thrashed to death. ~Tubbs
