In the Shadow of the Moon
Aroview: Stellar doco reflects on the true story of American astronauts' expeditions into space and the truly remarkable historic achievement of landing on the moon, told with benefit of hindsight by the nine surviving crew members of the nine Apollo missions, and effectively supported by archival footage.
The glaring obvious omission from this doco is Neil Armstrong, his physical absence creating an even greater mystique around the legend. Where this doco triumphs above other "space geek" explorations is in its breathtaking footage and candid discussions with the 'nice guys' who were privileged enough to explore space. Having said that, one would have liked the doco to have probed their personal lives a little more, to perhaps reveal some of the true cost of otherworldly glory.
