5 stars (Exceptional) Lyrical portrait of working-class family life in 1940s Liverpool, made from Davies' memories and stuffed with period detail. Perfectly detailed in every respect, this is a truly great British movie. Brilliant and very moving. Critics Prize Cannes etc ~Sandy
1 star (Turkey) Tedious, bigoted and predictable. ~JK
4 stars (Very Good) Nostalgia with a personal edge. "Men - if they're not using a big stick they're farting." Fascinating musical soundtrack. ~Shorty
