Wah Do Dem
Aroview: A young indie musician suffers solo through a disaster-prone Caribbean holiday in this shaggy road movie with a sweetly comic sensibility.
Largely improvised, it's a sometimes rickety affair that at worst comes across like an excuse for the film-makers to indulge some travel, and lead Sean Bones makes for an inscrutable 'slacker'. But once settled on Jamaican soil, the film finds its rhythm as a loose travelogue that taps into an authentic vibe, and provides an overdue and welcome return to a unique culture last widely seen in the cult classics THE HARDER THEY COME and ROCKERS. Pop chanteuse Norah Jones is billed in the cast, but her appearance is pure cameo.
