“The film is a profound testament to the rare and underrated virtue of simply not screwing anything up.”~Christopher Orr, The Atlantic
Aroview: Ridley Scott adapts the acclaimed novel by Andy Weir as an unabashed crowd-pleaser about an astronaut who is left behind after a manned mission to Mars goes horribly wrong.

4 stars (Very Good) Refreshing to see a big-studio space adventure that hinges on logical problem-solving and has a sense of humour. They finally jump the shark, of course, but its hard not to root for (the very engaging) Damon anyway. Scott's best film in years. ~fairbrother
3 stars (Good Enough) OK, but the pacing is all over the place, the supporting characters mere thumbnails and the video diary device overused. For space rescue - Apollo 13. For man alone - Castaway. Sorry, but it's that simple... ~HiFi
4 stars (Very Good) Beautifully shot movie. Science mostly believable. How do those storms develop in such a thin and waterless atmosphere?. Script fleshes out characters in the book without losing original wit and intelligence. Better than average pot-boiler from Hollywood. ~Anon
2 stars (Good Try) The set designs are fine but for most of its length the story telling drags and needs pop music to back it up. The ending is predictable and soft. ~Tubbs
