This gleefully (though unknowingly) turns the predictable patriotism of 'Independence Day' on its dog-ear, with no cast-member safe from the ray-gun fire of the not-so-friendly invaders. Look out behind you! A bona fide 'alternative' blockbuster.

4 stars (Very Good) Broad comedy and many homages to '50s sci fi classics make this a huge winner for me, though it's a bit too obvious that they used the soundtrack from The Day the Earth Stood Still as a temp track. ~Pearce
