Lone Star
Aroview: John Sayles' searching character study set in a dusty New Mexican town crosses multiple characters and time frames across three ethnic cultures.
At its heart lies a long-unresolved murder and a restless, laconic sheriff who lives in the hazy shadow of his legendary father. A subtle excavation of American mythology, history and reality, that can be most appreciated on the smaller screen.

5 stars (Exceptional) Covering enormous ground at a leisurely pace, Lone Star is that rare treat: a film which, although effortlessly cinematic, manages the depth, scope, and chewy richness of a good novel. Sayles' writing (and casting) has seldom been better. ~fairbrother
5 stars (Exceptional) Astonishingly original with a cracking script that lifts it into the exceptional. Casting perfect. Complicated & sophisticated. I had to watch it twice to fit all the pieces together. Unusually, it was even better the 2nd time. Highly recommended! ~Anon
3 stars (Good Enough) Kristofferson makes a mean sheriff. ~Shorty
