Aroview: An incendiary Brazilian drama depicting two decades of blood-drenched rivalry between two youth gangs who control a slum area of Rio De Janiero, this celebrated international hit has also provoked outrage for its casual violence and drug-use among minors.

With a flashy, heightened sense of style slightly removing it from the ‘authentic’ street vibe being presented, this perhaps lacks an emotional core or wider political context that might have secured fullest impact, but it packs firepower as a piece of cinematic bravado - bristling with precocious energy, exotic wonderstuff and committed acting from a cast of largely non-professionals.
