Aroview: Notoriousy grisly 1980s "video nasty", featuring Tom Savini effects (inc a very famous head explosion and several scalpings) amid an otherwise sombre, relatively low key character study.
Even now this remains a controversial entrant into the slasher canon, with it's monomaniacal focus on the central character taking precedent above variety or respite. Surprisingly high production values don't take away anything from its sheer relentlessness.
