Edward IIEdward II (1991)
3 stars (Good Enough) As expected, a little different. Although not all segments appealed, the creativity, and originality, deserve to be recognised. Tilda Swinton is a compulsory casting in this kind of thing.
Norma RaeNorma Rae (1979)
3 stars (Good Enough) The scenes in the textile mill were well produced and the industrial relations situation believable enough to warrant Sally sticking it up 'em.
Brute ForceBrute Force (1947)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) I thought the climax strained belief a bit but for the rest it was well made with Hume Cronyn convincing.
You Only Live OnceYou Only Live Once (1937)Recommended
3 stars (Good Enough) Always hard to see this combination of director and casting failing and it doesn't.
Body and SoulBody and Soul (1947)
3 stars (Good Enough) Very competent in all departments especially the fight scenes.
Waiting Room, TheWaiting Room, The (2007)
3 stars (Good Enough) A decent screenplay and worth a look.
DesperadoDesperado (1995)
2 stars (Good Try) It doesn't get better than the opening scene courtesy of Steve Buscemi.
White Bird in a BlizzardWhite Bird in a Blizzard (2014)
3 stars (Good Enough) A reasonable screenplay but the film's strength is in the performances of the mother and the daughter slugging it out.
Paris When it SizzlesParis When it Sizzles (1964)
2 stars (Good Try) I suppose Audrey was always going to be on the casting director's shortlist for this.
Zone of Interest, TheZone of Interest, The (2023)Recommended
4 stars (Very Good) You should also see Alain Resnais's 30min. "Night and Fog" (1955).
