National Lampoon's Vacation (1983): Its early scenes are the strongest, and not even John Candy can bolster the tail end, but overall it is doing well to last over 50 years and counting.
Lost Horizon (1937): The characters arrive in Shangri–La whip their fags out, and light up; Blu-Ray $19.95
Taps (1981): A silly screenplay, but then again these days, truth can spring more surprises than fiction.
Bug (2006): A bit different to the normal horror fare with Michael Shannon made to order.
Conversation, The (1974): A very good and always topical plot idea is transferred extremely well to the screen. A low key but effective performance from Hackman helps.; DVD ~~$30~~ $22.50
Little Man Tate (1991): Most of it was good, but it lost its way toward the end. The casting of the title character was spot on.
Decameron, The (1970): The characters contribute greatly to its entertainment value. The cinematography is easy on the eye, and the set designs are interesting.
Of Mice and Men (1992): A solid story and very good performances throughout.; DVD $24.95
September Issue, The (2009): The documentary is well made along with everything else on display. A privileged look at another world.; DVD ~~$20~~ $15
Catch and Release (2006): Not my kind of screenplay, particularly at two hours, but Jennifer Garner and Juliette Lewis are as usual very good.
