Annette (2021)
The music was hard work and unfortunately, it was there for most of the long running time and was a real distraction. On the positive side, there were some good set designs and artwork.- DVD $29.95, $34.95
Youth (2015)
There are some worthwhile segments, particularly on Keitel's side of the screenplay, and whilst Caine gets over sentimental this drama will certainly have a following.
East Is East (1999)
Bassett is terrific but Om Puri has the more difficult task of portraying the wife beating husband & ignorant male. The street scenes are exceptional & the other aspect that is handled bravely is the culture clash between Pakistani & Fish and Chips Brits.
Girl on the Bridge, The (2020)
Well done to all those concerned with the making of this documentary.
Marley (2012)
Could well be the benchmark documentary about Marley.
Pocketful of Miracles (1961)
Unfortunately, the screenplay is a little drawn out diluting the comedy effect but the casting at all levels can be admired – for example, to be found in the supporting roles are Peter Falk, Mickey Shaughnessy, and Edward Everett Horton.
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013)
Perhaps not as strong as the original but pretty good as far as sequels go.
American Honey (2016)
The early scenes promised something similar to "Fish Tank" but the longer this drama went on that hope dissipated. It does have worthwhile segments but it would have been better if they had been closer together & the running time shortened.
House of Pleasures (House of Tolerance) (2011)
It has a good look to it, especially the period's props and wardrobe, but the screenplay is too long for the material.
Jo's Boy (2010)
It was better than a lot of other "hard to dislike films".
