Fracture (2007)
Whatever strengths the plot had were diluted by the plodding pace of events. Hopkins made it more interesting than it would be otherwise.
Black Panthers, The: Vanguard of the Revolution (2015)
A comprehensive and valuable historical document that doesn't have an axe to grind.
Summer in February (2013)
Easy on the eye and the period is well represented but the characters are not that interesting.
Ashes and Sand (2003)
Nothing wrong with the early girl gang scenes but the story gets permanently sidetracked by the romantic theme until it finally goes off the rails completely. Some scenes are just silly.
Beautiful Boy (2010)
A film about grief is not an easy watch – but although there are plenty of understandable hysterics the acting by the two leads is fine.
Spectre (2015)
Saying a Bond film drags maybe sacrilegious but it certainly takes its time. I assume the franchise is making a profit but to me these Bond films are not going anywhere. However the effects/stunt people continue to be outstanding and so is Waltz in this.
Grumpy Old Men (1994)
Some parts work quite well particularly around Walter Matthau but the story gets a bit thin and tiresome toward the end.
Phil the Alien (2004)
Its different and it makes a really good try to be funny. Well worth the watch.
Batteries Not Included (1987)
The early demolished street scenes & those of the cute robots are very good but the gimmick doesn't last the distance although the two ancient thespians do their best.
Little Princess, A (1995)
Classy production of a very good story. Young Liesel Matthews is excellent and so is Eleanor Bron as the school mistress. The plot nearly got soppy in a couple of places but was good enough to pull itself back together in time.
