Incredible Hulk, The (2008)
Owes a debt to King Kong and other monsters. Some acting talent in Tyler, Hurt and Roth going to waste.
Eiger Sanction, The (1975)
The location shots are worth waiting for – some interesting support performances from Jack Cassidy and George Kennedy.A good musical score from John Williams.
Devil's Knot (2013)
Didn't really need another one.
Doc Hollywood (1991)
A good idea until the romance takes over. A fine supporting cast.
Monster-in-Law (2005)
Lightweight plot – Fonda is usually much better than this.
Gone Girl (2014)
Failed to hold attention – too long – lightweight Affleck doesn't help.
Dave (1993)
The unoriginal plot idea has some good intentions but doesn't last the distance. Always good to see Sigourney even if subdued but Frank Langella is the highlight.
Predator (1987)
Has some originality.Action scriptwriters can't seem to resist the sick one liners – when Arnie pins an enemy to a tree with his knife he says "Stick around".
Fugitive, The (1993)
Hard to maintain suspense over two hours. Some good segments but a more charismatic lead would have helped or at least someone with a bit of life. The "Making Of" is very good.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
The set designs and the special effects are outstanding – the toddler is terrific but some of the adult performances seem out of sync but then again I haven't read the book.
