Incredible Hulk, The (2008): Owes a debt to King Kong and other monsters. Some acting talent in Tyler, Hurt and Roth going to waste.
Eiger Sanction, The (1975): The location shots are worth waiting for – some interesting support performances from Jack Cassidy and George Kennedy.A good musical score from John Williams.
Devil's Knot (2013): Didn't really need another one.
Doc Hollywood (1991): A good idea until the romance takes over. A fine supporting cast.
Monster-in-Law (2005): Lightweight plot – Fonda is usually much better than this.
Gone Girl (2014): Failed to hold attention – too long – lightweight Affleck doesn't help.
Dave (1993): The unoriginal plot idea has some good intentions but doesn't last the distance. Always good to see Sigourney even if subdued but Frank Langella is the highlight.
Predator (1987): Has some originality.Action scriptwriters can't seem to resist the sick one liners – when Arnie pins an enemy to a tree with his knife he says "Stick around".
Fugitive, The (1993): Hard to maintain suspense over two hours. Some good segments but a more charismatic lead would have helped or at least someone with a bit of life.The "Making Of" is very good.
Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004): The set designs and the special effects are outstanding – the toddler is terrific but some of the adult performances seem out of sync but then again I haven't read the book.
