El Cid (1961): The main man is in the saddle – highlights are the location shoots and some acting talent in the support cast (Horden et al.)
A Time to Love and a Time to Die (1958): The opening scene and the scene involving Klaus Kinski (looked the part)the best – pity about the casting of non–Germans in key roles. The differences in life style for the privileged away from the action covered quite well.
Old School (2003): Desperate – Juliette Lewis the only highlight.
Black Hawk Down (2001): Excellent action film but all the goodies look alike with or without helmets so there is little chance of character interest.
Guns (TV Mini-series) (2008): Didn't really hold one's attention.
Fault in Our Stars, The (2014): Undemanding and therefore too long. The kids are okay but Laura Dern pops in and out and shows what can be done.
Edge of Tomorrow (2014): The lead casting reveals its limitations but the visuals and creatures are good.
Revolutionary Road (2008): Kate leads a very good cast who all give solid performances. The period setting is authentic and photography excellent.
Hell Bent for Leather (1960): Well made and watchable.
Paul Blart: Mall Cop (2009): The character is well done and is likeable without being soppy.
