Above Suspicion (2019): It was okay – not rememberable rather than forgettable.; DVD $29.95
Gentleman Jack (TV Mini-Series) (2019): A powerhouse performance from Suranne Jones heads this well produced drama. A real tempter to read the life of Anne Lister.
Petulia (1968): Not too bad but the kookiness of the title character wears a bit thin. The slick editing likewise is a bit overdone. Richard Chamberlain looks a bit lost.
Tokyo Sonata (2008): The first half hour was very good with some gentle touches of humour but the screenplay then started to lose its way – maybe it took on too much.
Across The Hall (2009): The slow moving screenplay and the limited (gloomy) shooting locations require viewer patience to see it through.
Versus (2001): It just needed a bit of originality.
Babyteeth (2019): Four good performances and it has a better than average terminally ill screenplay.; DVD ~~$25~~ $18.75
Woman, A Gun and a Noodle Shop, A (2009): An interesting remake, and being one of a Cohen, it has its curiosity value. Whether the screenplay succeeds or not the stunning landscapes and photography should see it through.
Little Big Soldier (2010): A good mix of action and comedy – Chan is never boring – but it is indistinguishable from others of its type.
Shame (2011): The screenplay isn't particularly memorable but the scenes where the two talented leads interact are worthwhile.
