Two Deaths
Aroview: On the eve of the violent fall of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in 1989, a wealthy doctor (Gambon) throws a dinner party for his friends, which unravels into lengthy mutual confessions and disturbing events of the past.
Although cerebrally engaging, this gets a little bogged down in extended dinner-table conversation, though has powerful moments of revelation and a dark vision of human lusts. From the novel by Stephen Dobyns.
