Coming to America (1988)
Good plot idea – the first half of the film is stronger than the latter stages as it runs out of steam – but there are some good cameos to help things along.
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Although the Walking Dead as a sub–genre has been thrashed to death this one stands out from among the crowd.
Go Tell the Spartans (1978)
A no glamour war film – the action sequences are well done – Burt Lancaster excellent.
Cop Out (2010)
Every one tries really hard to make this funny.
Scooby-Doo (2002)
The effects people do a really good job with Scooby Doo – who as a character is a winner.
36th Chamber of Shaolin, The (Master Killer) (1978)
Mountain Patrol (Kekexili) (2004)
Unforgettable. One of the few examples that I can recall where a dramatisation has at least the same impact as a documentary. This one doesn't get sidetracked with friviolities but gets its message across in spades.
Stormbreaker (2006)
Aka "Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker". Pettyfer struggles with the acting side of his role but the film has some interesting cameos spread throughout which help to compensate.
Dark Angel (1990)
aka "I Come in Peace". Modest and now dated actioner. Michael J Pollard as a cameo.
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close (2011)
The title says it all. I sympathise with the film makers in that it must be hard to find any nine year boy (autistic or not) who is not annoying.Sentimental plot. The film had a chance to finish twenty minutes earlier than it did.Goodman hardly appears.
