Comet (2014)
An excellent plot idea is only partly done justice by the screenplay and script.
Meet Joe Black (1998)
It is probably hard to portray a character like Black's over 3 hours (Earth time) but reducing some of the romantic subplot would have helped. Hopkins as expected is fine.
A Hard Day's Night (1964)
A quickie production. Great "direction" from Richard Lester allows the Group to do their thing. The novel screenplay achieves a balance between the music and comedy helped along by a terrific supporting cast.
Immortal Beloved (1994)
Not a particularly flattering view of Beethoven but it is always interesting and there are good performances in particular from Oldman and Krabbe.
I'm Not There (2007)
Brave filmmaking. Although some segments don't work as well as others the plot idea deserves credit and there is always the music providing the backbone.
Sarah's Key (2010)
Good production values – the roundup scenes early in the piece are particularly well done and Kristin is as solid as ever.
Wuthering Heights (2011)
The older Heathcliff character just got annoying and you wish he would just wuther off. The Yorkshire location shooting however makes it worthwhile.
Giants, The (2011)
A modest screenplay but one that is not too long, beautifully photographed and it has a very good soundtrack.
Black Dahlia, The (2006)
The best thing about this production are the period details which are extremely well done.
Patience Stone, The (2012)
The lead performance of Golshifteh Farahani is fine but the screenplay is disappointing and the script pretty ordinary at times.
