Muriel's Wedding (1994)
The story takes quite a few dips but Toni Collette and Bill Hunter make it worth watching.
It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (1963)
It's not up there with Keaton, Chaplin or Tati's work but to keep up the enjoyment for nearly 3 hours is highly commendable. The cast are experienced comedians or comedy actors on a busman's holiday with standouts from Ethel Merman and Terry –Thomas.
On Moonlight Bay (1951)
Some tuneful tunes and a harmless plot.
Pittsburgh (1942)
Wayne is meant to be playing a capitalist arsehole – but his lack of experience in playing characters who are bad shows through.I suppose it could have been part of his contract that he not be depicted in poor light.
Pecker (1999)
Its a John Waters film.
Dark City (1998)
Director's cut an improvement on theatrical release. Interviews with the film makers explain the stuff ups by the money people, marketing, ratings board etc. with the original .Story still doesn't flow evenly but the art design/atmospherics impressive.
Falcon and the Snowman (1985)
I'm not a Penn fan but he really is poor in this one. David Suchet the highlight. The story never really takes off.
Brief Encounter (1946)
Nostalgic use of train platforms, subways and cafeteria. Joyce Carey scene steals and provides relief from the romance.
Afternoon Delight (2013)
The female cast work well together. Good use of incidental music.
Kiss Me, Stupid (1964)
Some interest provided by Ray Walston.
